Knit in 4ply worsted weight yarn using the flat stitch       

Gauge = 5 stitches per inch

Knit in bulky yarn, any stitch 

Gauge = 3 to 4 stitches per inch 

Knit in sock yarn, flat stitch

Gauge = 5 to 6 stitches per inch
